The Late Bruce Ward and his Legacy

Bruce Ward was a farmer by both training and heart. After gaining his Diploma in Agriculture, his early experience was largely in intensive agriculture, including dairying, irrigated grain production, and horticulture, in the Hunter Valley of NSW.

In 1981 he moved to Collarenebri, NSW, where he became General-manager and later a Director of Colly Farms Cotton Limited, a large cotton producer.
In 1987 Bruce and his wife, Suzie, founded Holistic Results. Although the work of the company was initially focused on irrigation and other intensive agricultural industries, Bruce was increasingly drawn to understand the problems occurring in the extensive pastoral regions of Australia, particularly after the Australian wool industry crashed following the collapse of the Reserve Price Scheme. He knew that continuing to do what had always been done would lead to even more distress and failure.

It took a few more years to find the way forward. In 1994 Bruce began a two-year program working directly with Allan Savory, who some ten years earlier had perfected the Holistic Management decision-making process. Shortly afterwards Bruce commenced delivering his highly regarded training programs. In1998 Bruce and Suzie expanded their training programs to include New Zealand.

He educated more than 2,500 people, who collectively managed millions of hectares of land.
Bruce was a skilled trainer and business coach, and is a mentor to a great many families on the land in both Australia and New Zealand. He was an executive and a director of publicly listed companies in Australia and not-for-profit companies in both Australia and the USA.

He served his time as  a director of several Australian land management companies and a partner in a UK based land management organisation. In 2007 he co-founded Soil Carbon (Australia) Pty Limited, a company dedicated to building awareness around the vital relationship between soil carbon, soil health and land management, specifically regarding grazing management.
Bruce passed away in 2012 leaving a legacy with those he impacted during his life.
